Research Engineer - Plant Cell Biology Quantification
Amatera
Join us to push the limits of plant cell biology
At Amatera, we are building the future of sustainable crops. By advancing plant cell biology, we create solutions to major challenges such as climate change, diseases, and the need for more resilient crops. Our focus is on perennial plants like coffee, grapevine, and beyond.
We are looking for a passionate engineer eager to build bridges between in vitro culture processes and digital tools — someone who has a strong engineering mindset and loves data collection and their analysis. If you enjoy cracking the "black box" of in vitro culture and turning data into impactful protocols, this role is for you.
Your mission
- Develop robust in vitro culture protocols in collaboration with our cell biology research scientists.
- Share time between different research projects, various starting plant material (protoplast, cell suspensions, embryos, plants…) and several species.
- Develop and apply quantitative approaches (imaging, molecular, cellular metrics) to characterize protocols.
- Contribute to the development of AI-based predictive models.
What we’re looking for
- MSc in Plant Science engineering with a focus on digital technology (imaging, robotics, predictive models…).
- Hands-on prior experiences in plant biotechnology and/or plant tissue culture. Experience in protoplast is a plus.
- Knowledgeable in programming languages (R, Python, Bash).
- Strong interest in quantitative approaches to better understand and optimize regeneration mechanisms.
- Motivated and self-driven with the ability to operate with partial and incomplete descriptions of high-level objectives (as is typical in a start-up environment).
- Fluent in English (C1 minimum); French is a bonus, not a requirement.
- Strong teamwork, communication, rigour, and problem-solving skills.
Why join us
- A unique opportunity to shape the future of plant breeding with cutting-edge cell biology.
- Work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and fast-growing biotech environment.
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- Full-time, based in Evry (South of Paris), starting ASAP.
