Research Technician - Part-time

We’re seeking a part-time Research Technician to run weekly experiments at our in vitro platform at SLU Umeå. Opportunity to be a central part of Agteria’s discovery efforts for sustainable solution.

This is a part-time role based in Umeå, Sweden.

Agteria is a biotech company on a mission to reduce 1% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. We are developing products to make agriculture more sustainable and solve climate change in the most effective way - starting with our novel methane inhibitor reducing methane production in cattle. Everything we do is guided by our values of speed, impact, and collaboration - they shape how we work together and how we innovate.

The Role

We are establishing an in vitro system at SLU Umeå and are looking for a part-time Research Technician (up to 25%) to take ownership of weekly in-vitro experiments.

Your work will be central to Agteria’s discovery efforts, providing rapid insights into the potential of new products aimed at reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.

Responsibilities

  • Independently run weekly in-vitro fermentation assays.
  • Set up experiments, manage samples, and measure gas production.
  • Assist in data analysis and contribute to study reports.
  • Collaborate closely with Agteria’s science team (CEO, CTO, Head of Science) to advance product discovery.

What we’re looking for

  • Prior lab experience (academic or industry).
  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and reliability.
  • Curious, ambitious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Motivated by making a real-world impact on climate change.

Future opportunities

This is a starting role with significant growth potential. The right candidate could transition into a full-time scientist role at Agteria, working directly with leadership and contributing to broader discovery projects.

Location & start

Based in Umeå, Sweden.
